City of Gold Jewellers presents bespoke Golden ear rings to NSMQ Quiz Mistress

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of City of Gold Jewellers Mr Richard Prah popularly known as ‘Richard of Daban’, has donated a new bespoke pair of gold ear rings to the quiz mistress of the recently ended National Science and Maths Quiz Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann.

Dr Kaufmann lost her bag containing valuables including her gold ear rings, cash, mobile phone, ID Cards and keys, moments after supporters of the winning school Prempeh College mounted the stage to receive their prize.

She was thrown into astonishment on Wednesday when Mr Prah travelled all the way from Kumasi to Accra to honour a promise he had made on social media after the sad incident, to replace her gold ear rings.

Speaking to Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote – Fumador, the young craftsman who plies his trade at Daban in Kumasi said he felt obligated to ensure that an exciting story which caught the nation’s attention did not end up with the Quiz Mistress going home with a loss.

“We all know the euphoria that surrounded the National Science and Maths Quiz only for me to read in the evening that the quiz mistress had lost her bag and in it was her gold ear rings. This caught my attention because I am into manufacturing of gold jewellery.”

“We got the opportunity to get in touch with Dr Elsie Effah Kaufmann and arranged that today we will do the presentation. By the grace of God, today we got to Accra and proceeded to her office at the University of Ghana Engineering department and we made our humble gesture.”

“She was so excited to have us that at a point she couldn’t find the words to show appreciation. She kept asking, so you came all the way from Kumasi to do this?” He narrated.

Speaking on behalf of his staff, he added, “For City of Gold Jewellers, we did this on humanitarian grounds and for us we feel it is a duty that for someone who puts a smile on many faces, the little we could do is to also make her smile.”

He pointed out though that he rooted for Adisadel College since his Alma Mater the Edina Abirem Senior High School is also located in the Central region.
